Extreme Makeover Home Edition is coming to Kokomo. The following letter was sent out to Home Builders Association members regarding the show: Our local HBA has been contacted by Extreme Makeover Home Edition. This is a nationally televised program that builds new homes for deserving families that are in desperate need. I am sure most of you are familiar with it.

One of our members, Hallmark Homes- Paul Schwinghammer, was also contacted by the segment producer. He has agreed to be the general contractor for this project. He has requested help from our local HBA. Laborers and materials are in great need. Other members already on board are IMI, E & B Paving and Carter Lumber. Paul has informed me that they are in need of concrete finishers, trim guys, drywallers, landscapers, etc. and everything in between. Labor and materials will all be on a volunteer/donation basis.

Two university broadcast programs will be setting up a tent and sending out to central Indiana media centers constant updates and news on the project. There will be a post production DVD made where all contributors will be listed. On sight will be entertainment and food, just as seen on tv.

Start date for demolition and ground breaking is October 22, 2009…that is 3 weeks away. The exact location can not be revealed until the family is notified…but I can tell you it is within a 30 mile radius of Kokomo. The initial press release will be on October 7th.

This home is a 2 story, 3500 sq. ft., no basement, made of stone and vinyl construction.

If you are interested in helping on this project, please contact the HBA office (765-236-0694) or Paul Schwinhammer at Hallmark Homes (765-620-3888). Paul will also be talking briefly at the October 8th membership meeting, next Thursday.
