The Kokomo Downtown Association Courthouse Beautification Committee is seeking volunteers to help with landscaping at the Howard County Courthouse on Oct. 13 and Oct. 24. The Urban Enterprise Association, the Community Foundation of Howard County, and private donations have provided funds for the project.
On Oct. 13 at 8:30 a.m., volunteers will help Brian Cossell of Cossell Creative Landscaping remove sod for the landscaping beds on all four sides on the courthouse. Volunteers should bring gloves, and they may help as long as they desire.
On Oct. 24 from 8-10 a.m., Mark Hilligoss of Country Raisin’s will lead volunteers in planting tulips in some of the landscaping beds. Volunteers will rake the dirt back, place the bulbs, and rake dirt over the bulbs.
“The Beautification Committee started work on this project in April,” said John Wiles, KDA director of downtown initiatives. “Thanks to its work landscaping improvements are within reach. With the help of volunteers, the improvements will become a reality.”
Volunteers should contact Wiles at 454-7926 or via e-mail at jwiles@greaterkokomo.com. The KDA is a division of the Greater Kokomo Economic Development Alliance.
