Kokomo Ranks 24th in Nationwide Job Growth!
More great news for Kokomo!
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics the Kokomo Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) ranked 24th in the nation out of 421 MSA’s surveyed from April 2011 to April 2012. This data also ranks Kokomo 4th in the State of Indiana out of the 14 MSA’s ahead of Terre Haute (36th), Indianapolis/Carmel (127th) and Bloomington (339th). As a whole the State of Indiana ranked in the top ten in the nation for job growth.
“These statistics show that Kokomo continues to out perform most areas in the state and in the nation,” said Mayor Greg Goodnight. “Our continuedinvestment in quality of life projects has encouraged our current employers to expand their workforce and has attracted new employers to Kokomo.”
Kokomo’s job growth is a result of the recovery of the U.S. auto industry. Delphi Electronics and Safety and Chrysler, two of the community’s largest employers, have been steadily adding to their workforce in recent months..
