Kokomo Wins Indiana Association of Cities and Towns Community Achievement Award

The Indiana Association of Cities and Towns (IACT) has honored the City of Kokomo with its 2012 Community Achievement Award. Kokomo was selected for increasing the quality of life for its community and the results these investments are producing.

“Our focus on improving quality of life and creating a healthier and livable community is attracting businesses and residents,” said Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight. “We have recently seen two small firms expand from Inventrek to their own locations. We attribute the growth to Kokomo being a great place to live and work.”

“This award for the City of Kokomo and Mayor Goodnight is well deserved,” said Joseph Stahura, IACT President and Mayor of the City of Whiting. “In a time when budgets are tight Kokomo has decided to make itself a more attractive, livable community which has poised them to grow their economy.”

This award is given to communities for outstanding achievement, successful innovation and steady leadership in municipal government. This is the second time in the last 3 years that Kokomo has won this award. Kokomo also won the Community Achievement Award in 2010 and will be officially honored at an IACT Annual Awards Luncheon on October 3, 2012 in French Lick, Indiana.
